design * spiration

Winning a fire safety poster contest in 3rd grade propelled my career into the creative arts. After 4 years of studio arts and a bachelor of Fine Arts later, I jumped into the creative pond (well more like an ocean).

Working in Graphic Design for over 10 years has become my commercial career of choice but I gather creative inspiration from online to offline. This blog is a hodgepodge of my creative musings.

A few things that keep me going...good coffee made with fresh ground beans, books, cats, photography, gardening, 90's Alt Rock, RI beaches, flea markets, antique jewelry, making to do lists, ceramics, soy milk, funky sunglasses, broken in jeans, traveling, my family and dark chocolate.

A few more beautiful photos taken in Newport, RI of Brenton Point on the Ocean Drive. These are also taken with the Hipstamatic iPhone App. I forgot to mention it takes high resolution images and saves them to your photo library (awesome!!!)

This past weekend I traveled to Newport, RI to visit my family. My Dad and I took my grandmother to the Newport Kite Festival on Brenton Point and I took a few snapshots with my iPhone trying out all of the different lenses, films, and filters in the app Hipstamtic. It simulates using a vintage camera on the iPhone.

These are just a few pictures I took using the various settings. I used the Helga Viking lens with Kodot Verichrome film and the Cadet Blue Gel Flash on two of the images. The other two I used the Helga Viking lens with Ina’s 1969 film and no flash. This app is so much fun like using a LOMO camera, you just never know what you are going to get…it’s a fun surprise every time!
